Jason Ringenberg, de Jason & The Scorchers, propose un double CD avec des titres du groupe et en solo. Les 30 morceaux sont re-travaillés et ré-enregistrés, et le CD 2 propose des titres de son précédent groupe, Shakespeare's Riot, et des inédits en solo.
-Drive-By Truckers - Brighter Than Creation's Dark (New West)
C'est le huitième CD de Drive-By Truckers avec 19 nouvelles chansons, la plupart d'entre elles jouées lors du "The Dirt Underneath tour" au printemps 2007. Patterson Hood et Mike Cooley continuent d'être les principaux paroliers, une collaboration qui dure depuis plus de 22 ans. La bassiste Shonna Tucker y fait ses débuts dans l'écriture avec trois titres. John Neff, présent depuis le début, qui joue en invité et sur scène, est dorénavant membre à part entière du groupe en tant que pedal steel et guitariste. Lui et le batteur Brad Morgan ont tourné dans ce groupe au fil du temps. Le bien connu keyboardiste de Muscle Shoals, Spooner Oldham, auquel le CD est dédié, apporte sa touche soul, comme lors de la tournée. Lori McKenna - Unglamorous (Warner)
Boston-area singer Lori McKenna, best known as a songwriter of several Faith Hill's last disc, releases her second disc. The album is being co-released by Tim McGraw's StyleSonic Records. Byron Gallimore and McGraw produced the album. Hill and McGraw both sing backing vocals.

John Anderson returns to Warner, the home of many of his hits. A single was released in 2006, but did not do so well. "A Woman Knows" is the second and current single. John Rich of Big & Rich fame produced the 11-song disc.

Special Consensus - Trail of Aching Hearts (Pinecastle)
Bluegrass group Special Consensus will release their 13th album. The group consists of Greg Cahill, Ron Spears, Justin Carbone and new bass player David Thomas, replacing Tres Nugent. Rob Ikes and Phil Ledbetter contribute to the disc.

Blake Shelton - Prime BS (Warner)
Blake Shelton releases his fourth album. The first single on the CD is "Don't Make Me." Bobby Braddock once again produced the disc with help from Brett Rowan and Paul Worley. Shelton, an Oklahoma native, has enjoyed hits with "Some Beach and "The Baby."

Golden Smog - Blood on the Slacks (Lost Highway)
This is a new eight-song mini-album from the alt.-country. The group consists of Gary Louris and Marc Perlman of The Jayhawks, Kraig Johnson from Run Westy Run and Dan Murphy of Soul Asylum. Jeff Tweedy of Wilco apparently is not involved in the new release. Last year, Golden Smog released their first album in eight years,"Another Fine Day," which did feature Tweedy. The new release features six original songs and David Bowie's "Starman" and Dinosaur Jr.'s "Tarpit." Two of the originals were recorded during the session for "Another Fine Day."

Dwight McCall - Never Say Never Again (Rural Rhythm)
Dwight McCall is the son of bluegrass veteran and Rural Rhythm artist, Jim McCall of Earl Taylor & Jim McCall with the Stoney Mountain Boys. Taylor & McCall recorded three albums for Rural Rhythm in the mid-to-late '60s. The younger McCall was a member of Union Springs, which released three albums in the '90s. He a member of Charlie Waller's Country Gentlemen before joining the New South in 1996. He can be heard on the latest J. D. Crowe and The New South recording, "Lefty's Old Guitar" where he penned the country flavored ballad "I Only Wish You Knew." His tenor has been paired with the Lost & Found's Scottie Sparks on his self-titled debut of 1999, and with two-time IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Dan Tyminski, both on the latter's solo album and the award-winning "Stanley Gospel Tradition." McCall left The New South in 2003 to record his first solo recording, "Kentucky Peace of Mind" with members of The New South along with friend Josh Williams.

John Prine - Standard Song for Average People (Oh Boy)
John Prine releases a collection of classic cover tunes performed on a duets album with Mac Wiseman. David Ferguson produced the 14-song disc. Wiseman and Prine got together at the urging of Cowboy Jack Clement.

Alison Krauss is the subjet of a 16-song compilation, which includes 5 previously unreleased songs. Songs include work the bluegrass great did with James Taylor, The Chieftains and for the "O Brother, Where Art Thou"" soundtrack.

J.D. Crowe - Bluegrass Holiday (Rebel)
J.D. Crowe's "Bluegrass Holiday" will be reissued on CD containing 12 songs plus 4 bonus cuts. The disc was originally released in 1968 on a Kentucky bluegrass label, Lemco. The band includes Doyle Lawson, Red Allen and Bobby Slone.

Seldom Scene - Different Roads (Rebel)
"Different Roads" is a compilation of 14 songs from Seldom Scene's albums on Rebel. While the Washington, D.C. band released seven albums on Rebel, this comes from three of those albums, "Act Two" (1973), "Old Train" (1974) and "The New Seldom Scene Album (1976).

Alan Jackson, George Strait and Jimmy Buffett joined together for the first-time ever May 29, 2004, at Texas Stadium in Dallas. The event will be released featuring all three artists. The disc contains "Seven Bridges Road," recorded for the first time by Jackson.

The Osborne Brothers - Live in Germany (Pinecastle)
Bluegrassers The Osborne Brothers will have a 2-CD set of 22 songs from a a concert in Streekermoor, Germany from 1989. The set has never been released before. Sonny and Bobby Osborne contributed liner notes. Among the songs are "Midnight Flyer," "Tennessee Hound Dog" and "Kentucky." A 10-song DVD is being released at the same time, although not all songs on the DVD are on the CD, such as "Rocky Top."

Ralph Stanley - Mountain Preacher's Child (Rebel)
Rebel Records to the vault for this all-gospel disc from Ralph Stanley. Almost all of the songs were culled mainly from three Stanley albums - "I Wear a White Robe" (1979), "Snow Covered Mound" (1982) and "I Can Tell You the Time" (1985). Charlie Sizemore was in the group handling lead vocals on the 14 tracks. This is the first time any of the songs are available on CD.

Martina McBride - Waking Up Laughing (SonyBMG)
Martina McBride is back with 11 songs, including the first single "Anyway." McBride produced the 11-song disc and also helped write 3 of the songs with Brad and Brett Warren of The Warren Brothers.

Drew Kennedy - Dollar Theatre Movie (Sustain)
What began in 2000 with a simple gift of a guitar from his grandfather has led Drew Kennedy to release his second disc and first for Texas label Sustain. Produced by Gerald Boyd, the release contains 13 original songs, all written or co-written by Kennedy. The first single is entitled "Take Me Home" and was co-written by Peter Dawson and Kennedy. Kennedy previously released the independent release "Hillbilly Pilgrim" in 2003.

David Ball - Heartaches by the Number (Shanachie)
David Ball goes with a new label for his latest. Ball previously had stints on Dualtone and Warner where he had several hits, including, "Thinkin' Problem" and "Riding With Private Malone."

Tim McGraw - Let It Go (Curb)
Tim McGraw releases his first studio album in almost three years. "Let It Go" was recorded in Nashville and was co-produced by McGraw, Gallimore and Smith, who is a member of McGraw's backing band, the Dancehall Doctors. McGraw again enlisted the help of his touring band The Dancehall Doctors on the project, which is now their third consecutive project. The album contains 13 tracks: the hit single "Last Dollar," "I'm Workin'," "Let It Go," "Whiskey and You," "Suspicions," "Kristofferson," "Put Your Loving On Me," "Nothin' To Die For," "Between The River and Me," "Train #10," "I Need You," "Comin' Home," and "Shotgun Rider." Wife Faith Hill appears on two tracks, "Shotgun Rider" and "I Need You," which was the encore song during their 2006 "Soul2Soul II Tour." McGraw co-penned tune "Train #10."

Alabama - Songs of Inspiration Volume II (RCA)
Alabama releases its second disc of inspirational music. The disc is a collection of traditional hymns, standards as well as two original songs. Included are "Will The Circle Be Unbroken," "Down By The Riverside," "Lonesome Valley" and "The Star Spangled Banner."

Jack Ingram - This is It (Big Machine)
Jack Ingram releases his second album for Big Machine. The first single from the disc is a countrified version of the huge hit for Hinder, "Lips of an Angel." Ingram's first release for the new Nashville label proved to be the biggest commercial success of his career because "Wherever You Are" hit number one on the song chart. The Texan also charted with the follow-up single, "Love You." Both also appear on the 12-song new disc.

Graham Parker gained his musical notoriety as a pub rocker in England three decades ago. In recent years, he has adopted a more rootsy sound, and he releases his third disc for Bloodshot.

Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Ray Price - Last of the New Breed (Lost Highway)
The first trio album from Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Ray Price is a 2-disc, 22-song collection of newly recorded versions of country classics. The disc was recorded in Nashville and produced by Fred Foster, who also produced Nelson's 2006 Grammy nominated "You Don't Know Me: The Songs Of Cindy Walker." Backing musicians on the project included steel guitar legend Buddy Emmons, fiddler Johnny Gimble and backing vocalists The Jordanaires. Songs include Harlan Howard's "Heartaches By The Number" (with Vince Gill on backing vocals), Cindy Walker's "Night Watch," Mickey Newbury's "Sweet Memories" and Kris Kristofferson's "Why Me Lord," featuring Kristofferson singing backing vocals. The Trio also cut a couple of recently penned songs with Nelson's "Back To Earth" and Haggard's "Sweet Jesus," co-written with Kenny Vernon.

Randy Kohrs - Old Photograph (Rural Rhythm)
Randy Kohrs releases his label debut, containing a dozen songs. Kohrs, who has appeared on many albums as a sideman, self-produced the disc. Don Rigsby, Shannon Lawson, Carl Jackson and Rhonda Vincent are among those on the disc.

Pedal Steel ace Jon Rauhouse releases his third CD. Rauhouse has appeared on many recordings, including those of Neko Case, Calexico, Giant Sand and The Waco Brothers. Calexico guitarist Tommy Connell is in Rauhouse's band, while Case handles vocals on "East of the Sun."

Uncle Earl - Waterloo, Tennnessee (Rounder)
What does Led Zeppelin and bluegrass band Uncle Earl have in common? How about Led Zep bassist John Paul Jones, who also will produce the second disc, "Waterloo, Tennessee," of the bluegrass quartet? Uncle Earl received kudos for its 2005 debut, "She Waits for Night." Uncle Earl put down 16 tracks, including Bob Dylan's "Wallflower" and Gillian Welch, who plays drums on "The Last Goodbye." Uncle Earl is comprised of Kristin Andreassen, Rayna Gellert, KC Groves and Abigail Washburn.

Gary Allan - Greatest Hits (MCA)
Gary Allan will release a greatest hits package with two new songs, the current single "A Feelin' Like That" and never before released "As The Crow Flies." The disc contains 15 songs. Among them are "Smoke Rings in the Dark," "Right Where I Need to Be" and "Man to Man."

Sunny Sweeney - Heartbreaker's Hall of Fame (Big Machine)
Sunny Sweeney released the album on her own as an indie artist in Austin. Label head Mike Borchetta had it dropped on his desk, and he soon visited Sweeney's MySpace page, which led to the signing of the hard core honky tonker.

Mary Chapin Carpenter - The Calling (Rounder)
After a long career on Sony, Mary Chapin Carpenter switches to Rounder for "The Calling." The album was recorded and co-produced with keyboard ace Matt Rollings (Lyle Lovett, Keith Urban), with whom Carpenter co-produced her previous album, "Between Here & Gone." "The Calling" will feature all new original songs.

Son Volt - The Search (Transmit Sounds/Legacy Recording)
Jay Farrar returns with the follow-up to 2005's well-received "Okemah and the Melody of Riot." The new disc contains 14 songs.

The Greencards - Viridian (Dualtone)
The Greencards - Carol Young, Kym Warner and Eamon McLoughlin - release their second Dualtone disc after receiving a lot of praise for their debut. Jedd Hughes lends his guitar skills and co-wrote 3 of the 12 songs for the Austin-based band.

Elana James usesd to be known as Elana Fremerman, and she also used to be known as the fiddler for Texas swing band Hot Club of Cowtown. But the Hot Club is no longer and James is on her own on these 13 songs.

Donna Hughes - Gaining Wisdom (Rounder)
Songwriter Donna Hughes, who has penned songs for Alison Krauss, goes on her own with her debut disc. Tony produced the disc of Hughes, who wrote "My Poor Old Heart" on Krauss' "Lonely Runs Both Ways." She also has written a song covered by The Seldom Scene. The album includes 12 originals and 2 covers (including Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time") in a soulful, expressive voice. Though rooted in classic bluegrass, the North Carolina native branches out to a wide range of acoustic sounds. Among the artists contributing are Tony Rice, Alison Krauss, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sam Bush, Rhonda Vincent, Alecia Nugent, Carl Jackson, Tim Stafford, Rob Ickes and Sonya Isaacs.

Texan Johnny Bush remains quite active with a new autobiography, a duets album with fellow Texas honky tonker Johnny Bush, "Texas on a Saturday Night," and this solo effort.

Daryle Singletary - Straight from the Heart (Shanachie)
Traditional honky tonk singer Daryle Singletary makes his label debut after being most recently on the late Audium label. The disc is a collection of covers such as "Jesus and Bartenders," "We're Gonna Hold On," "The Bottle Let Me Down" and "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail." Guests on the disc include John Anderson, Rhonda Vincent and Ricky Skaggs. Singleetary hada previous hits with "Amen Kind of Love" and "I Let Her Lie."

Wylie and the Wild West - Bucking Horse Moon (Western Jubilee)
The album by the Western singer is filled with yodels, songs about open space and the western lifestyle, cowboy culture and always horses. These 14 new songs were recorded at the Cash Cabin Studios with John Carter Cash (Johnny's son) producing. The album is an even mixture of new originals and unique covers.

Charlie Louvin - Charlie Louvin (Tompkins Square)
Charlie Louvin releases his first album in about a decade on a small New York label. Louvin covers a dozen songs with the help of friends like George Jones, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Alex McManus of Bright Eyes and Elvis Costello. The collection contains only one new song, "Ira," a tribute to his late musical partner.

The Silos - Come On Like The Fast Lane (Bloodshot)
Walter Salas-Humara and The Silos return with another disc that mixes rock and rootsy sounds. The disc opens with the Salas-Humara/Steve Wynn co-penned "Behind Me Now."

The Circuit Riders - Let the Ride Begin (Pinecastle)
The Circuit Riders release a 13-song CD produced by the group. Greg Luck, Darin Aldridge, Jaret Carter, Billy Gee and Greg Corbett comprise the band. The Riders cover Neil Young's "Powderfinger." Band members wrote five of the songs.

Jack Cooke - Sittin' On Top of the World (Pinecastle)
After 37 years with the Ralph Stanley Band as a guitarist, Cooke finally steps out on his own on this 15-song disc produced by Jim Lauderdale. Among the songs are "North to Alaska" and "Long Black Veil." Cooke's first job as a professional musician was playing bass for Carter and Ralph Stanley in 1955. He began a four-year stint with Bill Monroe the next year as a Bluegrass Boy. By 1970, Cooke returned to the Stanley fold as a Clinch Mountain Boy.

John Starling - Slidin' Home (Rebel)
John Starling and Carolina Star release their debut disc. The group includes Starling, Tom Gray on bass and Michael Auldridge on Dobro, who were three-fifths of Seldom Scene. This is Starling's first recording in more than 10 years. Starling, a surgeon, who lives in Fredericksburg, Va., recently retired as a surgeon and wanted to return to music. His last disc was with Carl Jackson on Sugar Hill. Emmylou Harris guests on "In My Hour of Darkness," a Gram Parsons tune. Jon Randall, Jimmy Gaudreau and Ricky Simpkins also lend a hand. George Massenburg produced the 10-song disc.

Southern Culture on the Skids - Southern Culture on the Skids Play Countrypolitan Hits (Yep Roc)
Trashy trio Southern Culture on the Skids play countrypolitan songs, including "Oh, Lonesome Me," John Loudermilk's "Tobacco Road," John Fogerty's "Tombstone Shadow," "Funnel of Love" made famous by Wanda Jackson and Chris Hillman's "Have You Seen Her Face."

Tommy Womack returns after a personal downtown to release his first album since 2002's "Circus Town" on an indie label.

Chip Taylor - This Side of the Big River (Collector's Choice)
Chip Taylor, the author of "Wild Thing" and "Angel of the Morning" along with recent albums with Carrie Rodriguez, will see his 1975 country disc reissued. The disc was first put out by Warner. Guesting on the disc are steel player Pete Drak, fiddler Buddy Spicher and back-up singers The Jordanaires.

Joe Ely goes his own way by starting his own label to release his new music. This is part of a very busy year for Ely, who also will have another album out this year and a book. The new disc contains 11 songs, all written by Ely except "Firewater," penned by his compadré Butch Hancock.

California resident Eleni Mandell releases her second disc on a Canadian label. Mandell goes for a moody affair.

Jason Michael Carroll - Waitin' in the Country (Arista)
Jason Michael Carroll, a 28-year-old North Carolina native, makes his recording debut. The disc contains the self-penned debut hit, "Alyssa Lies," a song about abuse, seen through the eyes of a child and her father. Produced by Don Gehman (John Mellencamp, Hootie & The Blowfish, R.E.M., Nanci Griffith), Carroll's disc features 11 selections, 5 of which are written or co-written by Carroll.

Ted Russell Kamp spends most of his time as the bassist in the .357s, Shooter Jennings' back-up band, but he goes out on his own for the second time. Shooter helps out on backing vocals on one song from the New York native.

Tracy Lawrence - For the Love (Rocky Comfort)
Tracy Lawrence is going his own way. After splitting with the late DreamWorks Nashville label, the singer formed his own Rocky Comfort Records, a partnership with his manager and brother Laney Lawrence. His first single was "Find Out Who Your Friends Are."

Bill Kirchen - Hammer of the Honky Tonk Gods (Proper American)
Former member of the Lost Planet Airman, Bill Kirchen ends a long abence from recording with this disc on a new label for him. Kirchen offers a twanging tribute to the Fender Telecaster guitar that he plays to the soulful closing of Arthur Alexander's "If It's Really Got To Be This Way." Nick Lowe plays bass on the album.

Steve Azar - Indianola (Midas Nashville)
Steve Azar returns after a long gap with his label debut. The Mississippi native had hits with "Waitin' On Joe" and "I Don't Have to Be Me (Til Monday)."

Kenny and Amanda Smith - Tell Someone (Rebel)
Kenny & Amanda Smith return to their southern gospel roots with "Tell Someone." The album features gospel standards that the Smiths sang while growing up in church. "Gospel music has always been a part of bluegrass," says Kenny. "In our shows, about 25 percenet of what we do is gospel songs, and those end up being the most requested ones in our concerts. We just wanted to make an album that would touch people. Some of our fans come up to us after our shows, and they'll ask if we're Christians. They know we're different. They can see something is different. With this album, it's a dream of ours to share our faith." The project was a decade in the making. After years of prayers, on March 30, 2006, the studio was finally booked when Kenny got news that his father had died in a tragic tractor accident. The Smiths, who are husband and wife,decided to move ahead with recording the new album and the project is dedicated to the memory of Kenny's dad, Carl.

Clint Black - The Love Songs (Equity)
Clint Black will release a fresh set of some of his love songs. The 12-song collection includes "When I Said I Do," the Grammy-nominated duet with his wife Lisa Hartman Black, "Something That We Do" and one non-Black-penned song, Jim Croce's classic "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song."

Simpson has penned songs for George Strait, Martina McBride and Gretchen Wilson. Menefee was a fiddle champion at 17 at the Winfield Kansas music festival.

Banjo player Tony Trischka returns to acoustic bluegrass joined by a roster of fellow five-stringers, Trischka's latest features full-band two-banjo bluegrass. Featured banjo players include Earl Scruggs, Steve Martin, Béla Fleck, Alison Brown, Tom Adams, Bill Emerson, Kenny Ingram, Scott Vestal and Noam Pikelny, performing alongside Chris Thile, Dudley Connell, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush and Ron Stewart. Peter Rowan and Tony Rice continue their collaboration on this new CD, which finds them joined by bassist/vocalist Bryn Davies and mandolinist/vocalist Sharon Gilchrist.
