BUSINESS NEWS: Bobby Roberts Company has signed Aspirion Records recording artist, Annie Sims, with an exclusive booking agreement. "We are excited to add Annie Sims to our Horizon roster at the Bobby Roberts Company. After hearing Annie's new CD and meeting this beautiful and energetic performer I just knew this was an artist we at BRC would want to represent," states Roberts. "It's a privilege to present this talented lady to talent buyers world-wide!" Sims' current single, "Eighty Acres of Stars," from her debut album, HALF THE MOON is at radio now, and the video has recently been serviced to outlets nationwide.
Show Dog Records Nashville office has signed the family duet of Tim Rushlow and cuzzin' Doni Harris. The hot new duo will be named 'Rushlow Harris.'
 
 BENEFIT NEWS: Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, George Jones and Trisha Yearwood are among the artists taking part on a new CD, SONGS OF THE YEAR, to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame. The CD was released this month, and will be available at Cracker Barrel restaurants and the company's Web site. The 12-track project includes new renditions of songs that have won song of the year awards from the ACM, the CMA or the Grammys. Other participating artists include Lonestar, Jo Dee Messina, Blake Shelton, Randy Travis and the Wreckers. Duet partners include Deana Carter and Heart, Jack Ingram and Willie Nelson, and Jamie O'Neal and Michael McDonald. Cracker Barrel and Vector Management have partnered to donate $125,000 to the Country Music Hall of Fame as a portion of the proceeds.
 
CONCERT NEWS: Kaleidoscope Media and Nashville Scene have announced the lineup for the 2006 Americana Folk Festival (AFF). The third annual event will be held on Saturday, October 21st, at Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson, Tennessee. AFF will present legendary singer/songwriter Patty Griffin as the headlining artist for this beloved grass roots event. Along with Patty confirmed are Mindy Smith, The Avett Brothers, Kate York, Thad Cockrell, and Jeremy Lister among the artists and special guests. With at least 30 musical acts in bluegrass, Americana, folk and jazz, an arts village and a beautiful Tennessee State Park as the backdrop, the 2006 AFF will be one to remember.
 
MUSIC NEWS: With more than four million albums sold, Terri Clark’s career and reputation have soared on the strength of compelling songwriting, dynamic live performances, and nearly a dozen Top 10 hits, including “Girls Lie Too,” “When Boy Meets Girl,” “I Just Wanna Be Mad,” and “Better Things to Do.” A Top Female Vocalist nominee at the 2005 ACM Awards, the Alberta, Canada native has amassed an amazing 13 Canadian Country Music Awards and is a five-time, fan-voted CCMA Entertainer of the Year. Congrats to Terri on her new association with BNA Records. As part of the BNA Records roster, Clark joins such artists as Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, Pat Green, Jamey Johnson, Blaine Larsen, Rhett Akins, The Lost Trailers, and Sarah Johns. Fans can be listening and watching for Terri’s debut BNA CD in 2007. More later when we get it.
 
ARTISTS NEWS: MCA's Smiley Vince Gill Will Release his 4-CD Set Of 43 New And Original Songs on October 17th. THESE DAYS features Sheryl Crow, Diana Krall, Bonnie Raitt, Gretchen Wilson, Del McCoury, Amy Grant, Phil Everly, Lee Ann Womack, Trisha Yearwood, Emmylou Harris, John Anderson & many other special musical guests. The collection is an artistic tour de force that displays Gill's mastery of lyrics and musical styles, ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to jazz and rock. To accompany him on this ambitious undertaking, Gill turned both to artists he knew and had worked with before and to those whose music he admired at a distance. "I never try to fill up my records with famous people," Gill says. "I try to fill them up with the most talented people I can find on the face of the earth." By the time the project was completed, that group also included, Rodney Crowell, the Del McCoury Band, Jenny Gill, Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Guy Clark, Bekka Bramlett, Michael McDonald, steel-guitar master Buddy Emmons and many other musical standouts.
 
TOURING NEWS: Rascal Flatts have announced the remaining dates for their Me and My Gang tour. The schedule includes an October 14th show at New York's Madison Square Garden. Gary Allan and newcomer Eric Church ("How 'Bout You") will open the shows on the final leg of the tour. According to projections, the group's 2006 tour will have sold 1.1 million tickets by the time it ends November 3rd in Albany, N.Y. Way to go boys! - Country superstar, Kenny Chesney's "Road & The Radio" tour scored the highest grossing concert in the Seattle’s hisory. Qwest Field in Seattle, home of The Seattle Seahawks hosted 44,582 fans grossed a total of $2,893,955.00! "When they tell us we made more money than the Stones, Metallica, Madonna, Paul McCartney, U2, Van Halen's 'Monsters of Rock,' and Pink Floyd...knowing especially that we work to keep our ticket prices low, so the kids who wanna come see us can...that tells me that Country Music is plenty healthy." Aside from two Rolling Stones shows and a Paul McCartney concert, Chesney's June 24th show is the biggest concert to play the Seattle market, going all the way back to 1980, according to Pollstar.
 
LABEL NEWS: BNA Records - As part of the Barbara Mandrell tribute album due on October 10th, both Brad Paisley and Sara Evans (and a hosts of others) were in the studio to record their versions of a couple of her greatest hits. Sara Evans, the reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the year, recorded the 1980 Top Five hit, “Crackers,” while multi-platinum, hit maker and songwriter Brad Paisley sang the 1983 Top Five single, “In Times Like These.” SHE WAS COUNTRY WHEN COUNTRY WASN'T COOL: A Tribute Album to Barbara Mandrell will be released October 10th. Other artists on the CD include Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Randy Owen, Lorrie Morgan, CeCe Winans, Willie Nelson and Shelby Lynne. MCA Records- George Strait released his newest album for MCA titled IT JUST COMES NATURAL, on October 3rd. The album's 15 tracks include "Give It Away," which is currently at # 5 on Billboard's country airplay chart, after only just nine weeks. The album also includes songs from legendary songwriters and artists such as, Bobby Braddock ("She Told Me So"), Guy Clark ("Texas Cookin'"), Dean Dillon ("That's My Kind of Woman") and Lee Roy Parnell ("One Foot in Front of the Other").

DEEPEST SYMPATHY: To the family and friends of Grand Ole' Opry star Billy Walker his wife Betty and two of his band members, Charles Lilly and Daniel Patton. The four of them were killed Sunday (May 21) when the van he was driving left the road and overturned on I-65, south of Montgomery, Alabama. Please keep the families in your prayers, also Billy's grandson, 21-old year old Joshua Brooks, who is still in critical condition at the time of this writing.

BUSINESS: AristoMedia President Jeff Walker will be busy in June. Jeff, who serves as both a Director on the CMA Board and chairs the CMA Global Markets Committee, has offered an open invitation to the special global acoustic showcase at 3:30pm on Tuesday June 6th at Legends on Broadway in Nashville. The event has been scheduled to introduce the many international guests who will be in town for the 2006 CMA Music Festival (6/8 to 6/11). The Country Music Association (CMA) will host the Third Annual Global Artist Party, which will be held at the Stage on Broadway in Nashville on Monday, June 5th at 6:15pm. Artists confirmed for the Global Acoustic showcase are:  Adam Gregory (Canada), Janine Le Claire (Australia), John Landry (Canada),  Karen Keeley (United Kingdom), Rodrigo Haddad (Brazil) and Melinda Schneider (Australia) To give the event a domestic flavor, Texas based CPI recording artist Sonny Burgess will emcee the showcase. BENEFIT NEWS: The ALL STAR line - up just keeps getting bigger for the 39th Annual IFCO Fun Fest. Confirmed are: The Oak Ridge Boys (headline act), Little Big Town, Steve Azar, Andy Griggs, Megan Mullins, Hot Apple Pie, Rachel Proctor, Con Hunley, Keni Thomas, the Alvarado Road Show, Todd Fritsch and Rustie Blue. Be there on Tuesday, June 6th at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally, Robert K. Oermann will host the show and the house band will be directed by Joe Bob Barnhill. The 2006 IFCO FunFest Show benefits Nashville's Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. A silent auction will also be held at the event with the proceeds benefitting Nashville's Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. MEDIA NEWS: When thousands of Dukes of Hazzard fans gather for CMT DukesFest 2006 in Nashville, they will be treated to something unprecedented in "Hazzard" history. On Saturday evening, June 3rd, the entire Dukes cast will perform together on stage for the first time. John Schneider (Bo Duke), and Tom Wopat (Luke) will be joined on stage by Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke), James Best (Rosco P. Coltrane), Sonny Shroyer (Enos) and Rick Hurst (Cletus). The entire cast will also be available for autographs and pictures on both days of CMT DukesFest, Saturday, June 3rd and Sunday, June 4th. The great Billy Joe Shaver will play, we're having a demolition derby, as well as the world's fastest lawn mower race. Then we'll have the Dukes concert, followed by THE PARADE of THE GENERAL LEES and we'll wrap up the night with a fireworks show. Now, that's what I call a Hazzard County Saturday night! The gates open at 8:30 am on Saturday and Sunday. Advance sale tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster locations and Cooter's Place stores in Gatlinburg and Nashville. MUSIC NEWS: Trace Adkins released “Swing,” last month, the first single from his upcoming new album DANGEROUS MAN – scheduled for release later this summer. “Swing,” cleverly referencing seasonal baseball terminology, describes the eternal dance of finding the right soul mate – a guy just giving it his all, putting it all on the line and “swinging for the fences” hoping he doesn’t strike out. “Swing,” was written by Frank Rogers and Chris Stapleton. 

ARTISTS NEWS: Chely Wright, lends her hand along with Martina McBride on Saturday, June 10th, for the 23rd Annual YWCA Celebrity Auction at the Hall of Fame Park located in downtown Nashville between the Hilton Hotel and the Country Music Hall of Fame. The event is free and open to the public. The money raised goes to support the programs of the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee, which include domestic violence, youth job preparation and job readiness programs. In 22 years, the auction has raised over $750,000.

Blackhawk, recently signed to Rust Records Nashville, has returned to the country spotlight with a brand new record. The CD, not yet titled, is slated to hit streets next month. The first single, "Who's Gonna Rock Ya'' has already been released. BlackHawk is currently on the road with Restless Heart and Little Texas for the Triple Threat Tour ... Kenny Rogers is gearing up for summer. His current hit single “I Can’t Unlove You” is climbing up the charts. The single is from his new album WATER & BRIDGES. At the time of this writing Kenny’s single “I Can’t Unlove You” was in the top #20 on both the Billboard and R&R Country singles charts. His video for the song is in the top 20 on the CMT Top 20 Countdown. Kenny has also recently been featured in People magazine. The article talks about the new album, recent successes and his family. Note: Kenny and his wife Wanda has twin sons.

LABEL NEWS: ARISTA: Alan Jackson’s ACR/Arista/Nashville album "PRECIOUS MEMORIES" has blossomed from a sweet Christmas gift to his mother...to a wonderful gift to fans everywhere who’ve warmly embraced the collection of classic gospel hymns. The CD earned RIAA Gold certification in just two months after the release date. Jackson’s PRECIOUS MEMORIES has become the only gospel recording ever to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, while Jackson has became the first country artist in history to debut an album of all spiritual material at #1 on the Top Christian Albums and Top Christian & Gospel Albums charts. RCA: Jeff Bates’ new CD ~ LEAVE THE LIGHTS ON has fans scanning the bar code. The first week sales earned the country crooner his highest scanning debut at #12 on the Billboard Country Album Chart. The 12-track collection focuses on the good things that happen when people open up to each other. Bates, who co-wrote several tracks, was looking for emotional songs that talk about truly connecting, especially in love. Bates’ new single “One Second Chance” hit radio last month. The song, about a man who has gone to jail and is seeking forgiveness and a second chance in life, is a story that is close to Bates’ heart. Having a personal history of  drug addiction and jail time, he shares his own story of his personal struggles and the forgiveness he received from everyone in his own life. Bates has received countless standing ovations during his live show after performing the song. Once again he works with producing geniuses Kenny Beard and Blake Chance.

UNIVERSAL SOUTH: Lee Roy Parnell has been on the road solidly since early March, promoting his new CD ~ BACK TO THE WELL. Released on Universal South, Parnell says to CMT’s Edward Morris, "This is the album I've been trying to make my whole life." Parnell also has a special guest. His daughter Allison pairs up with him on "Daddies and Daughters" duet. Award winning songwriters on the band wagon with Lee Roy as co-writers are: Tony Arata and Gary Nicholson.
